dotnet.za.net is the best programming resource for .NET in South Africa. It has thousands of visitors every month, both local and international. If you'd like to promote your .NET-related article, product or code, then please feel free to send a link to the relevant material to peter@dotnet.za.net, along with a short description. You may submit as many links to articles or other resources as you'd like.
If you'd like to help fellow developers and promote yourself whilst doing so, why not write an article for dotnet.za.net? You don't need to be a well-known author or columnist to have your article posted on the site. If you've discovered something interesting about the .NET Framework, why not share it with the rest of the world? Just so long as your article is interesting and informative and falls into any of the following categoryies, we'll gladly post it to the site and expose your work to all our thousands of faithful readers: General, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, .NET on Linux, Visual Studio.NET and Web Services.
What can you write about? Our "General" section hosts articles that deal with anything remotely connected to .NET - you can give your thoughts on how you think .NET will change the way we program in the future, for example. You might like to debate on the merits and pitfalls of HailStorm or Passport. In the "ASP.NET" section, you can write anything about ASP.NET - from tips for migrating from ASP 3, to getting starting with Web Forms, to configuring your servers to operate in a server farm. Likewise, the "C#" and "VB.NET" sections are open for any discussion or tutorials on any aspects of the languages. Thought of a great new way to implement something in C# or VB.NET that wasn't previously possible? You can write about that. ".NET on Linux" is a special section for commentary and tutorials dealing with the versions of .NET available for the Linux platform. Do you think .NET on Linux will succeed? Will Ximian's Mono project be able to bring .NET development into the mainstream for Linux? Feel free to give the world your opinions on the matter. Have you tried out C# on Linux? Maybe you can write a tutorial on how to setup and install C# on Linux. The "Visual Studio.NET" section is specifically for articles that deal with VS.NET-only topics, such as step-by-step tutorials on how to perform certain tasks in VS.NET. "Web Services" promise to be a huge force in B2B e-commerce, although unfortunately there's currently a lot of confusion surrounding exactly what "Web Services" are, how they operate, how to build and consume them in .NET and how to extend them. Any articles relating to Web Services, SOAP or XML for HTTP information transfer will fit in nicely here.
Hopefully now you've got some ideas on what topics you can write on. Once you've finished, you can email your article to peter@dotnet.za.net, along with a short description of the article, your name, and a short paragraph about yourself so that you can have a mini-bio of you on the site.
